rebating facility removed
Nov 16th, 2006, 10:38am

am i the only one who thinks the fox can rebate but this feature has been ruled out by what is obviously an added bit off metal to gaurd against the end off the cutter block!!!!!!
this machine [on the side you can't see] http://www.rutlands.co.uk/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi/F22564

all you need do is remove the fence and alter the gaurd [remove the bit protecting the cutter block]

set the table for maximum depth off cut  take a bit off 2by2" planed the length off the table pass over the table till the front off the wood is about 1/2" beyond the far end

reset table to required cut clamp the 2x2"  "fence"in position when your happy your rebate is in the correct place draw a datum pencil line on the table  this will allow accurate copying when you have to chop and change during machining

also make shure any openings are fully gaurded when not in use

if your in a comercial situation you need to check the regulations incase they now prevent rebating on this machine!!!!!!!!

I would think you would be better off, finger wise, the keeping of that is, using a router table. It's not unfeasable that the guide could come in contact with the blades with dire results.

It's not nearly as bad as removing the riving knife off a table saw though, but I don't know anybody who would do that  Roll Eyes

the point here though keith is

its the end thats fully enclosed by the normal fence as well

so thinking about it the added gaurd must be to do with the dust extraction because thats the only time you need to remove the fence
thankfully theres a securing screw i can use to hold a removable fence when overhead dust extraction is required Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
