Bathroom Seal Q

Hi Guys

Just a quick question!

When we installed the Bathroom we used an acrylic based sealant around the bath.

I am assuming as the weight etc has been applied to the bath it has come lose and I can now see potential problems of holes and gaps!

What do you guys recommend I do?...The seal is along the longer part and short part of the bath (so half of the bath)

Any ideas? To seal it totally

Tip; before you reapply the silicon (sanitary ware grade) fill the bath with water, then allow the silicon to cure (24hrs) before letting the water out

Best figure out why the bath is moving and then follow Scruffs advice. Sometimes you just need to adjust the feet under the bath to stop it rocking. If it's the bath flexing then there is little you can do to stop it - except perhaps try fixing a batten to the wall for the bath to rest on rather than relying just on the legs. Sometimes it's the floor boards moving, in which case a sheet of 1/2" marine ply under the bath feet will improve things. If you can stop it moving when someone climbs in and out the silicon will last a lot longer.

Some instructions say fill the bath half full of water but full or nearly full is better. Check the plug doesn't leak. You want it to stay full for the full 24 hours.

If it's not possible to stop it moving go for a "low modulus" silicon. This is soft and more stretchy than regular but I think only available in clear.
