Unfortunately for £200 you don't get a lot of saw for your money, IMHO you really need to spend about £500 to get something that cuts accurately.

Do you really need one?

Then there's always ebay Undecided

DIY and trying to win promotion to Semi Pro

It would be a mixture of things, soft\hard wood and also laminate and ply if required...

I've got to agree with Smitty - at £200 you'd struggle to get anything worthwhile, even if secondhand

in general a" normal " table saw is ideal for converting anything up to 3" by around 8"

with side extensions around 16"all using the built in fence

free hand you can cut full sheets but you need lots of support fore and aft a good eye and a steady hand  to see and follow the line but not recomended as its fraught with danger  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Undecided
you also need a full 20ft clear to cut the board as you need 8ft before the table plus room to stand then the table then 8ft after the table

in general circular saw and battons is the way to cut full 8x4ft  boards to size

tell us your projects and we will suggest the best plan off attack with the best tool for the job

one thing i always stick by and advise to people who buy a new machine/equipment, bin the origianl blade and buy a decent one, as this is where makers save a lot of the build monies, buy installing a cheap blade!

i do not know where abouts you are( you may have said before... gettin old!!)

but have a look at these links!!!

http://www.axminster.co.uk/recno/2/product-Axminster-BTS10PP-Saw-Bench-21657.htm...

their own brand or.....

http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp?pf_id=208698&name=saw+tables&user_search=...

worth a look!!! the JET is a named brand item, but the Axminsters own stuff is not to bad!!!

just remember, buy a decent blade, and if cutting laminate,  get a lam specific blade, multi tooth triple chip blade!

although its possible to cut a straight line with a jigsaw its not easy and cutting laminate will only be clean on one face whilst chipping out the other athough a sacrificical bit of wood will  help

you will need a jigsaw anyway for cutting any line thats not  straight

studding needs a chopsaw to give a square finnish to sit level
