fixings for Kitchen wall cabinets (Read 15586 times)

cimo GDPR opt-out	fixings for Kitchen wall cabinets Jul 9^th, 2007, 6:29pm Hello folks Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the following - I'm fitting a new kitchen (B&Q flat pack). Was wondering what to use to fix the wall brackets for the wall cabinets. My wall is concrete block. Just not sure what size plugs/screws to go for? all feedback appreciated. thanks cimo

I know two guys who done this recently.
I mean - really - what are the chances of drilling through an itsy bitsy cabel? - (joke).

No, my main concern is loading and correct fixings. 2"#10 sounds good to me. I'm thinking of supporting underneath as well with a lenght of 2x1.
Only want to do this once!

2 or 2½" 10s with decent GREY Fischer type wall plugs is best, and using a batten at the back for added support is an idea, worth doing,

just remember, that any wall cabinet, has a MAXIMUM LOAD CAPACITY

usually about 45lbs per 2 foot of cabinet ( 600mm ones) this actually goes down slightly for the wider 3' 3" units, (1000mm ones) due to the deflection of the base!!!

I really do think those little detectors are a great idea

A kitchen fitter gave me a shout the other day when he hit some metal (my metal capping), bless him as he stopped in time, but it is easy to do if your X-ray vision isn’t working

I put in some Wickses cabinets a few weeks ago on a brick built wall and only needed 2’’ no10s in the two metal hangers that came with them

Im sure someone will chime in with a few suggestions if you wait for a while Cheesy

I don’t know how much DIY work you do but I think the more you do you will get a ‘feel’ for the walls

now how did i know that would get a reaction!!!!

had one cable run at 45° from the switch to the ceiling!!!! real clever, no capping either,

and had one plumber, run the mains to the sink, at the exact hieght the cabinets had to be screwed to the wall at, and the 15mm copper was buried in the wall, and plastered over!!!

i do admit, i use the terms plumber and sparkie, very loosly here!!!]
