covering metal garage posts
Jun 13th, 2008, 7:51pm

Hi:  I'd like to dress up this ugly carport that came with my house in the woods by tearing down the metal covering, keeping the metal beams and posts, covering the metal posts with i guess 1 x 6 and the facia with 2 x 12 and replacing the metal roof with clear or dark gray corrogated material.  This is my first carpentry attempt, but I'm pretty handy and used to working VERY hard.  Do I just screw the 1 x 6 boards into themselves with some glue around the poles?

Perhaps for the roof...

It's available in a few colours. I suspect the black will start off very black then weather to a dark grey. Typically used on stable roofs.

or perhaps a different profile..
