overboarding bathroom floor
Aug 6th, 2008, 7:45pm

Hi There , I need to overlay some old floor boards and mr chipboard in an upstairs bathroom prior to the vinyl floor covering being fitted, the ceiling beneath this floor is plaster and lath and a portion of the floor has wet central heating, therefore i do not want to have to nail or staple the plywood overlay onto the floor,  my question is what would be the best adhesive to use to secure the ply overboarding, I initially thought in using contact adhesive but not sure if the heat will soften it, thought about using pink grip but dont know, has anyone had any similar experiences and what adhesive did you use, any help most appreciated

cheers

Metal detector to locate the pipes?

Aside: One of my 6 year old twins swallowed a ball bearing a few months back and we had great fun following it's progress with my pipe locator.

Why not just hard board and pins?

Dont use pink grip or grip fill.  It doesn't bond well when 'squished' thinnly in my opinion.

A resin wood glue may be the answer.

What ever adhesive you use, you are going to need to whack some screws in to pull it tight while the adhesive dries.
