i would suggest there are far more dangerous things likly to get ito a babys mouth or lungs like ciggarette smoke traffic fumes dog poo baby poo kitchen cleaners alcahol

basicly the only hazard from mdf is when working it and the dust it throws out
some people belive there is a possible risk with chewing mdf but in general mdf isnt used in easly chewable areas where babys can chew

Things have changed slightly since, for instance California is now planning to go for zero formadehyde in all their board materials and I suppose the rest of America will follow, that is if it is a realistic goal in the first place!
