Boiler Isolation
Jan 5th, 2009, 11:15am

Just after suggestions of how people have gone about local isolation for a external boiler.  Its not in a outhouse of anything just in its own weatherproof casing

Any ideas would be welcome, cheers

yeh i had a similar thought but its a 450 year old grade two listed farm house so i wanted it a bit low key, the only thing i can think of is a MK materseal spur, and just hope no one turns it off for a laugh.

A boiler is not exactly 'low key' either Wink

If it is the main iso for the cent heat control then two pole is fine, but if you are isolating the L N and Sw L you would need a TP iso.  I prefer to place th FCU for the entire heating system adjacent the boiler......two birds, one stone and all that.

Of course, if it is a combi, you are likely to only have a feed anyway.

yeh its a big worcester bosch jobby.

i dont really want to leave a switch outside but what can u do?

I think it going to have to be a SF spur outside, as it is a combi i believe.

You can have the iso elsewhere (as far as lecky regs goes, not sure on corgi) as long as the iso is capable of being locked off.

i have found the reg i believe you are refering to 537.2.1.5

So a MK spur can be used internally as the fuse holder can be padlocked in the out position?

this could save some hassle!

Not sure on that, A pad lockable rotary is definitely OK, not sure on the spur, is it designed to be padlocked?

Yea most of the logic-plus range of FCU's can be locked with a K2000 fuse carrier padlock (overpriced padlock with an MK logo engraved on it) when the fuse carrier is pulled out.
