Oak bedroom/computer suite
Apr 18th, 2009, 10:37pm

I have just fitted this set today after spending a few weeks building it. It is made from American White Oak using veneered panels and solid wood. It is finished in acrylic varnish. Customer was very happy with it.

I have to return to fit the cable outlet in the desktop as it hasn't arrived yet.

absoluty fantastic as always mailee well thought out well desighned and very classy Cool Cool Wink

what i usualy do if the tower is in the knee well is first build it onto a platform for easier access allowing for the chair castors
i also put a six gang socket at the top off the knee well at the back this allows cables from the top and underneath to hang down a bit keeping the desk top clear of extra wires  Wink

"Customer was very happy with it."

I should hope so too. Nice job.

Did you veneer the panels yourself or buy them in? If the latter, where did you get them from? The guy who used to do my panels has jacked it in and gone kitchen fitting for one of those OTT companies and I can't find anyone locally I have any faith in.

Actually, Woodsmith, don't know why I never though of asking before but as we're both in Shropshire, who do you use?

Hi Joiner, I bought the panels in ready veneered through my local timber merchant. Even so one of the sheets had a blown section when I came to rout the lippings flush! nipped the bum cheeks I can tell you! got around it though without too much trouble. Why is it a daft question? Yes I am.

I rarely use veneered boards, I think the last lot I bought was from Travis Perkins but Blackheath Products are worth a look;
http://www.blackheathproducts.co.uk/

You need to have a trade account with them before they will deal with you but they will deliver, even out to the wilds of Shropshire.

Sorry! Just looked on their website and they don't sell vennered boards in fact they only seem to sell laminated boards Undecided

That is the only problem with Shropshire, its a bloody desert when you need to buy anything. Other than that it is brilliant, but don't tell the southerners  Wink

lol. Too bloody late, half of them own second homes here.

Still, good for business!

You're right about suppliers though Keith. It can be a bugger, but thank god for the internet and couriers.
