Suprima 60 HE
Aug 3rd, 2009, 3:12pm

Dear all, I have a Suprima 60 HE boiler which keeps cutting out due to a circulation problem. What I must add is that I drianed the system to to fit more radiators and whilst the system was drained the boiler was activated for about 10 mins. I assumed that when the system was refilled and bled this error would go away but it hasn't. Any thoughts as to a cure?

Thanks

IF the system was run while dry, the pump bearings are probably shot to pieces.

Thanks for the reply but are you refering to the central heating pump? This was not run, only hot water was used which then initiated the boiler. The central heating pump still works without noise & vibration so I presume the pump to be ok.

I have had the central heating off for months now and the boiler cuts out whilst only heating the hot water.

Many thanks for any help/advice

Normally boilers don't ignite without a pump running somewhere.

Is it a combi? If so the pump does run when only using hot water. It pumps hot central heating water through a heat exchanger which heats the domestic hot water. If the pump is weak, the boiler will overheat and cut out.

Is it a sealed system or open vent.

the suprima has a flow themistor so it would not fire without a flow of water through it, it sounds like you have air locked the boiler, the pump runs for central heating and /or hot water, did you refill the system with the 2 port valves open? one last thing if your working on your central heating switch it off .

Is there any manual air vents at high points, the cylinder coil for example.
