Oil fired boiler running 24/7
Dec 7th, 2010, 10:34am

I have an oil fired worcester boiler located in the garage. During the recent cold spell it has been running 24/7 due to the frostat overiding the indoor thermostat.  This seems to me to be a a ridiculous waste of fuel often at times when we would prefer the house cool.  I would appreciate any advice on how to solve this problem.   It strikes me there must be millions of people out there who have outdoor boilers are they all burning fuel at a time when its not needed?  Any advice would be gratefully accepted.   Thank you.

Fit a pipe stat on the return pipe inline with the frost stat, set it around 35c, and it will switch it off again when the return pipe detects the heat.

The boiler will still cycle, but no where near as much.
