lighting question
Jul 31st, 2011, 3:57am

I have two ceiling lights in my bathroom.  I had to replace one of the bulbs yesterday.  I use the curly energy efficient bulbs.  Now I have a problem.  When I turn the switch on, one light goes on right away and the other one is delayed by about 10 seconds before it goes on.  Undecided  Can you please explain what the problem could be as to why they both do not go on at the same time?

Thank You. Cheesy

Usually a delay like that is caused by the lamp it's self, some energy saving lamps do have a delay, although the decent ones are instant start.

Try swapping them over, to see if the instant one works in the other fitting, if it does then you know it's the lamp, in which case all you can do is buy a different make. Good makes of lamps include Osram, Philips, Sylvania, and GE.

Many energy efficient bulbs also take time to "warm up". So once they do come on they can be a bit dim and gradually get brighter over about a min or so.
