Virgin media multi room in separate houses.

Hi,
I currently live next door to my mum. I have virgin media in my home with the multi room up stairs. The incoming Coax connections are outside side by side. i have a double and my mother has a double. one of my connections goes into the down stairs living room and the other up the wall in into the loft to go to the other side of the house. but i do not really use the upstairs TV. if i connected up my mothers living room connection onto my double splitter in place of my upstairs port then i could have my second box in her living room. fantastic just need to not have it connected if VM pop by.
BUT.... would this cause any problems with the electrics? both houses connected through a common connection.
i don't have a clue about electrics or even is the electricity runs through the coax.
Thanks for your help.

I can't see why there would be a problem.
But you both need TV licences.

Any electrician care to comment on the issue of mains phase? eg what if the two houses are on different mains phases?
It's possible the connection you propose might form a large earth loop. That might not be a problem but could introduce noise into one or both systems. I'd just give it a go.
