Fencing Height Question?
Feb 25th, 2016, 12:15am

My daughter is having a few issues with her neighbour and is now considering putting a fence between the side of two properties.

Her neighbour's property is around a metre higher than my daughter's property (because the two properties are on a hill). The maximum height of fencing I believe is 2 metres before planning permission is required, is the 2 metre from my daughter's ground level or the adjoining neighbours ground level? The maximum fence height is normally 2m which is measured from your own land, not the neighbours. However your local Planning office may allow you to erect a taller fence if you have a good reason for doing so and your neighbour did not object. I would give then a call and ask, it shouldn't hurt.
