Computer Soundblaster
Nov 6th, 2004, 12:37pm

These soundcards have 5 3.5mm jacks....what do they do??

I currently have 1 plugged into my beefy computer speakers (all my music is on a second hard drive).

I have a cable running to my other hi-fi's for use during parties etc, and have to unplug my computer speakers to plug it in.

I know i could split it, but I was wondering there is a 'fixed' level output I could use, as the keyboard has a volume control on it that I want to use for the computer room speakers, and don't want that altering the volume of the other stereos.

Anyone got any ideas, Not sure if i can 'switch on' one of the other jacks somehow??

All the outlets have been colour coded for a few years.
Red (pink) blue green & yellow.
Red is Microphone
Green is Speakers
Blue is Line out
Yellow is Line In
Although the last 2 could be the other way round.
I cant get to the back of mine to see properly.

Mine are Black, Pink, Green, Blue, Yellow/Orange

My speakers are connected to Green, and work.

If I plug them into the orange, only one channel works, and quietly???

I assume the Black may be digital or something.

Broken, or settings wrong somewhere??

Cheers guys.

Downloaded a manual, turns out my jacks are as follows...

BLACK is Rear Out
GREEN is Line Out
PINK is Mike
BLUE is Line In
ORANGE is 6 ch Digital Out

My 2 computer speakers plug into GREEN, I have now told the computer that I use 4 speakers, and have connected the stereos around the house to the BLACK socket - all works great.

Only thing, the stereos around the house are affected by the volume control on the desktop and keyboard.  Anyone any ideas if I can alter this??

The orange is a digital 3.5mm jack (spdif I think), not used a soundblaster for a long time, use digital surround card with an external decoder now.

Heres an image

Hello lectrician

Why not connect line out to DAT input on your hi fi aswell as line in to dat in then run the other speakers from your hi fi. You would also be able to record output from your hi fi onto your computer/cd recorder. Your hi fi speakers would then be controlled by the hi fi
jc Smiley....I'm not Stoday by the way (as lspark seems to think)
