My anti-virus has come up for renewal.  Would you pay the renewal fee, or buy a new package??

I've come across Norton in my travels, and I don't like it.

Top of the tree for me is PC-Cillin:

Failing that, AVG has become a very decent product, and they have a completely free version:

I use AVG mostly with others as secondary scanners. Norton only goes on this PC if i need to use one of the other system tools it has(windoctor). I find  norton lags me a little, not so much that is un-useable, but enough to notice.  Dont bother paying for it Lec, there are enough excellent and free AV progs out there.

I had MacAfee when I bought the 1st computer and was amazed at the speed when I uninstalled it and put AVG on.
I later tried Norton and found it similar to MacAfee.
Both are system hogs and slow everything down.
The only time my computer acts that way with AVG is with the new AVG7 when it runs its daily scan.
Unlike the previous version you dont see the AVG window while it is scanning so wonder why everything is going slow.
That's only quarter of an hour each day unlike Norton that was like that all the time.
