Yeah well, I have broad shoulders. And that comment of yours could be very hurtful to ray - I understand he's a bit short on the quantity department...... Smiley

At that last posting extrapolatest ATT to having 148,100 postings within the same time frame.

You used linear extrapolation, rabbit.

Isn't exponential extrapolation more appropriate?  Grin

Depends Stods. Yes I did use linear true.

It can only be exponential  if the membership growth rate is exponential . I don't have that data and if one does an extrapolation, over a given period of time, to determine membership rates this would be insufficient to determine whether it is linear or exponential.

So linear is probably more accurate Stods.

Herein ends todays lesson. You can go home (to TT) now.

On second thoughts maybe neither linear nor exponential growth is appropriate.

When Fibonacci investigated the growth rate of rabbit populations he finished up with the well-known Fibonacci series - 1; 1; 2; 3; 5; 8; 13; 21 etc.

Perhaps that should be the extrapolation base.

Ha Ha (another yawn) to be accurate Fibonacci discovered this series when investigating the growth paterns of fir cones Stodgy.

Another history according to rabbit, as usual differing from whatever you read in books.

http://www.mcs.surrey.ac.uk/Personal/R.Knott/Fibonacci/fibnat.html#Rabbits

According to this page on the University of Surrey's web site, rabbits was the original 1202 Fibonacci problem.

Give rabbit his due, he was almost right. After finding his series by studying rabbit theory, Fibonacci went on to show that it also applied to fir cones.

Mandelbrot took the fir cone issue a lot further & developed fractal geometry. (don't ask, rabbit, you won't understand).  Grin
