Laminated Timberboard
Jan 4th, 2005, 11:15pm

Any stockists, other than Wickes, of timberboard - the kind of stuff Stompa have been making a fortune out of.
Local timber yards can get it, but are reluctant to buy in unless there's demand by the pallet load.

Many thanks for any clues to national suppliers or internet sites. I don't mind Wickes - they try - but I draw the line at that other shower.

A couple of my local woodyards sell laminated pine boards in different sizes and thicknesses.
That stuff Wickes sell has all edges rounded.
Although it's fairly cheap I would have to saw and joint at least one of the long edges to get rid of the formed edge.
DIY sheds like Homebase want an arm and a leg for the laminated boards they sell.

Thanks Guys, for your replies

Intended purpose for the timberboard would be such things as entertainment unit for the playroom, built in furniture in childrens bedrooms etc.
The rounded over edges aren't a problem for regular items but I accept that jointing some edges is necessary if using for corner units
This stuff is not everybodies idea of a decent finish but its easy to use and predictable.
Cheers

I'm not sure which part of the island you inhabit but i used to buy direct from these guys http://www.scandinavianpine.co.uk/
that was until i moved to the other side of the pond (NZ) and now i am in the same boat as you trying to find a reasonably  priced supplier. Its great stuff and comes in differenf widths , thicknesses and lengths. You can even buy pre moulded headboards and tabletops and  even turned legs (wow) Grin
  good luck

Hope I can save more than just the diesel money going to them rather than Wickes for me timberboard
