PIR sensor chime required but cant find
Jan 8th, 2005, 11:07am

I have 2 PIR sensor lights, one to front and one to back of house, both plugged into mains via 3 pin plug. I was looking at wiring in a chime type device to PIR lights so that everytime the PIR sensor is activated the lights activate and a chime sounds in house. The trouble is I cannot find this type of device anywhere. I know, as an alternative, I could probably obtain 2 seperate sensors with chime as a package, but does anyone know where I can get this from please or similar. Much appreciated.

Before undertaking anywork, have a look at the 'Part P' post at the top of this section.

I have seen PIR Floods with a radio linked chime, I will try to find the supplier for you.

Your Floods should be correctly wired and installed before you wire anything additional to them.  Wiring through a plug top isn't the best practice.

There are ways to connect relays to the lights to operate doorbells etc, but due to the interfacing of 240volt with Extra Low Voltage, it is not really in the scope of a DIYer.

couldn't you just connect the bell transformer to the output of the pir and not bother with any switching in the elv side?

Only thing is theres only so much switching load and you could burn it out without checking the ratings.
