Screed floor

What is the normal ratio of sand to cement for a screed floor? And do I use concreting sand, or building sand for smoothness?
Thanks

4:1 is a general mix. 3:1 can be used though but may shrink and show small cracks.
Ask for screeding sand, the merchants should know what you mean. It's a sharp sand, quite fine but gritty.
