RSJ

Huraah!  The Building Control inspector was happy with my RSJ, so I now have to shim it with steel shims - he wasn't happy with slate, the old fashioned way - and cement it in.

Two questions.  Does anyone sell steel shims or do I have to make my own?  I can if I have to.

Secondly, do I use an ordinary 3:1 mix or something stronger?

Thanks

John D.

why not get some shims from your steel stockholder where you got the beam. Get the same footprint area as the beam currently has.

3:1 for 'mucking in' is fine.

Managed to find enough steel here in the end.  RSJ now in and doing its stuff!
