Some digital cameras eat batteries like there's no tomorrow. My Vivitar digital camera uses a set of 4 AA batteries in a matter of hours, it's bloody useless. Talking to a few other people I know with different cameras, this isn't uncommon.

Pop into maplins and buy a load of re-chargables.

about 10quid for 12 but make sure they're suitable for camera's

cant you rig up some kind of dyno/clockwork thing like bayliss did with the radios??

Try energizer  lithium batteries, there blue and silver and for two AA batteries there about £6. Yes u heard right 2 AA batteries for £6. Lasts 5times longer it says for digital cameras. Works for mine great and mine does eat normal batteries.

I use a Canon D30 digital SLR - All the lenses are cross-compatable with my EOS 30 35mm SLR, so you get the best of both worlds.
My digicam comes with a dedicated Lithium-ion battery which enables me to take 160+ photos at 1.4MB each on a 256MB CF card.

OK, so it cost me in excess of £1.5K when I bought it back in 2002, but used examples can be picked up on EBAY for around half that amount.

Go on - you know it makes sense - treat yourself.

I use a lot of Sanyo and GP cells in Radio controlled aircraft. The electric motors we use are rated at more than 1500W (about 2 BHP in old money). In competitions we suck 150 Amps from 18 x 3300mAH SC size cells to power these motors. The cells only explode ocasionally!

Going back on topis - Batteries in digicams.

Differnet types of batteries have diff discharge profiles.  Generally cameras are demanding about the voltage they need, so bog standard batteries which have a gentle slope quickly stop working in cameras although they will be fine in other uses.  

Use good quality rechargables and you should be fine.

oh btw cwatters, i have a helicopter i brought.....dunno....so i had one! lol

before that i had a petrol(cant rememper the name of the piss coloured stuff lol) car, still have infact, made and fitted my own turbocharger, starter motor and auto ignition (all custom built cos manufacturer dident make em!)

plus 3 speed gearbox~

2 remotes, one on 27 one on 42(?) and an aircraft one for the heli which is 1 channel short!

after that i gave up because i dident have the time(id love to have it!)

and no i dident intend to fly the heli! without lessons anyway

one day id like to get something sorted so it flys itself so i can spy on the bird down the road with the  big tits ya know
