Nov 27th, 2005, 4:55pm

After removing ceiling paper, nailed edges of cracked plaster board using galvanised nails to secure edges to ceiling joist. (60`s house)
Had ceiling skimmed by plasterer ( 2 coats) on drying cracks reappeared some hairline others with bigger gap  I noticed plasterer taped over joints. How do I fill in joints as I want to emmulsion ceiling and objective in skimming ceiling was to have a nice finish.

Have no crazed cracks. Ceiling dried out in 24 hrs with heating on. Was this too quick
Help please.

Should really have let it dry out some without the heat first. Not alot more the plasterer could have done other than skrim the joints although he could have used paper tape with dry lining compound where the cracks may be subject to reappearing. Open up the crack slightly with the tip of a screwdriver, just to get a little width on the crack and fill, with a bit of luck it will not reappear.
