Very similar to the Woodstar;

http://www.toolpage.co.uk/viewproduct.cfm?ProductID=350&CatID=26

and the SIP;

http://www.toolsnstuff.co.uk/product_info.php?pName=6%22-x-4%22-Planer-Thickness...

Looks a good price but it is a DIY machine and I would take the reviews under advisement Wink

thanks kieth i appreciate it diy  Roll Eyes

i just dont have the room to convert loads of sawn timber Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

it going to be for converting stock sizes when something thinner is required
so instead off ripping with the flip saw [60 tooth freud pro blade]flipping the wood for up to 5 3/4" cuts and a light sand to finnish Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

[did i just admit to using a saw without gaurds and riving knife in place Roll Eyes Roll Eyes]

ok hardly touched it jfc but so far
table seems parralel gives good clean cuts
havent tried the thicknesser yet as you need to remove the fence to attach the dust extractor over the top
if you dont do that the machine wont work as it has a microswitch of some sort  operated by the "wedges " you push in to lock it
this i am shure could be easily modified if reqired Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

any way if you want one get in now there was 60 left this time yesterday now theres only 20 Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

will give a fuller review when i have used it in anger Roll Eyes Wink

it is as it happens hence the wink Grin

one slight problem that i noticed earlier though is the fence is slightly hollow along part of its length ok top and bottom and either end Angry Angry

looks like i will have to front it with 6mm ply or mdf to take out the hollow Roll Eyes

to be honest if thats the only problem i have at that price i will be over the moon  Grin Grin Grin Wink

Its still working i just have a funny thing with machines . If i dont trust them i dont use them . Ill check it out tomorrow and make sure its all running properly but i wont be using it again .
Im not sure how taking out the key would help  Huh Wont you just end up with a thicknesser bed full of shavings ?

yes sorry i should have said to play and check its ok  Grin Grin Grin

indeed sawdust everywhere Grin Grin Grin

its just the removing the fence to use the thicknesser and having to lower the base to 5" to position the extractor dosent aid a" quick initial report " on the value and performance when you need to chop and change  Wink

naaahhh no danger as the dust extraction is a typical afterthought  Grin

the blades are enclosed with the guard and like any machine you dont enter an enclosed area or pass onto or over a machine bed if theres no need to or untill  a safe working practise is in place keeping your mits more than a hands length away from danger  Roll Eyes
often with the use of a push stick or 2 Grin Grin Wink

the key is just one off the wedges[on the dust extractor attachment] released by turning the screw a few times and clipping it in the fence side "wedge" slot

i must admit i do find colour schemes  and actual colours funny also JFC...
a few years ago i was party to initial testing on the Hitachi impact drivers prior to being fully launched /rolled out nation wide.. and the one i was given to test is made up of LIME GREEN and a sort of DAYGLO' SILVER FLAME STYLE body, and my grand kids refer to it as the RAY GUN!!!!!
it really does look like a kiddies toy gun!!! funny or what, but they let me keep it after the test, so , hey ho , not quite as funny, but it sure as hell has been one GREAT bit of kit!!! still going strong, and with the abuse i give it!!!  Grin

Not tried the fence yet as i needed to thickness some stock for beading last week so that was first on the list  . I think it needs extensions on the in and out feed tables for bigger jobs but it got me out of trouble .
The Lutz goes  hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm
This goes weeeeeeeeeeeeee but does the job .
