Have got a 7kw-peak system installed on the roof at work, was intresting getting involved with the design stuff. The payback - well its about 35 years with the cells having a 30 year max life, so no, I don't think its really gonna catch on for a while.

£30 quid for a book is a lot if you only have a general interest in the subject.

Anyway, I'm afraid I don't have details of training providers as It's not something I'm personally interested in doing, but I know from some colleagues who are interested in adding strings to their bow so to speak. They mentioned about the training provided by some manufacturers or distributors, I don't think it's much different in that respect to smart home technologies. They provide training on how to install and commission their technology.

As do some boiler manufacturers. Try looking up PV distributors Carl, I have seen one offering free training on their products but I can't remember who.

I think it will be awhile before it takes off but there are some interesting developments happening with the production of the cells. Several companies are developing printing processes so that cells can be made as a continuous process, like wall paper, rather than batch produced like microchips. Once they can do that and ramp up capacity prices should fall.
