AVG 9
Oct 9th, 2010, 2:45pm

I have a phenomena whereby AGV 9 creates several 65+MB backups several times a day.

Is this unusual activity?

My HIJACKTHIS logs yields these two entries - Do I need 2 TCP connections? Or have I been hijacked?

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{3CB07BC9-28E4-42DC-AEF2-6237910816E7}: NameServer = 212.159.13.49,212.159.13.50

I am not familiar with AVG, but backups each day seems OTT.

The hijackthis lock is simply showing the two DNS nameservers.  All computers will have two, usually provided by your ISP automatically.

DNS servers (domain name resolutions servers) are what tell your computer to change "www.google.co.uk" into "209.85.135.104", which your computer uses to get the page.
