Loading MS Office
Dec 1st, 2010, 11:51am

The wife has a notebook, no CD drive. I want to load MS Word and Excel onto it.

Can I do it using a memory stick? If so what is the procedure?

Cheers

You can, just copy the entire contents of the CD onto the memory stick and execute the setup file.

You could also put the contents of the CD into a directory on your desktop PC, and assuming you have both machines networked, copy the directory from the PC to the notebook, and then execute the setup.

Perhaps think about how the laptop is backed up while you are looking at this. Get an external hard drive or network it to another PC.

I favour making a drive image backup incase there are hardware specific drivers (trackpad or battery monitor?) that are hard to find if you need to re-install everything eg following a hard drive failure.
