Intermittant cold water from a mixer shower
Jul 5th, 2011, 5:48pm

I have a mixer shower with a combination boiler. Each Spring time the shower starts intermittantly running freezing cold water, whilst set to a normal warm temperature. This lasts for a few seconds before going warm again and can happen every 3 minutes approx.

This doesn't happen in winter but we still have our heating on in Spring (I'm always cold) so I can't see how it can be directly linked to the heating.

I'm completely perplexed as to why this happens and the couple of plumbers I've had round (for other things previously) haven't had any ideas either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?!

Thank you!

what make is your combi?

im thinking it might have something to to with the cold water inlet temp(obviously colder in winter)

some boilers I have worked on (Vokera's spring to mind) can actually overheat when producing HW , they reach 90 odd degee's on their primary circuit and shut down untill the temp drops , from what you are saying this might apply , but obviously i would need to know more

hope that helps

Is the boiler cycling on and off whilst this is happening?
