floating floor

I need to lay a laminate floor on unevern flagstones - any ideas how i would go about this - I was thinking of putting down 18mm exterior ply onto battens and laying the laminate on top - what does everyone think, and what size battens would you use?
thanks

jamandchips,
If the thickness of you're floor isn't a problem ,a 50mm screeded floor would be better than battens &ply. Smiley

If the floor thickness is an issue you could use a self leveling compound, may need two applications if there is a lot of variation, then use the standard underlay.

To combine the 2 suggestions, you could give it 1 layer of self levelling compound to get it there abouts and then use the green levelling underlay boards.

Hope this helps

Asphalt?    Keeps out damp

Another option is 25mm Jablite or similar polystyrene sheet with a floating layer of t&g chipboard on top(joints glued and with a vapour barrier underneath the t&g)   will give you a nice warm floor.

Depends how "uneven" the floor is.

Thats interesting Keith, presumably that would work with a click type laminate floor

Gromit I am not so sure, I have always laid t&g on top.

I think that it may not support the laminate enough especially if there was a particularly heavy point load.
