Is there anyway to remove yourself from a search engine??

I have an old version of our web site listed all the time, and it is still accessable.  (although I can't change it, as I no longer subscribe to freeserve).

My new site (substantialy the same but on another server) isn't listed yet.  Any ideas??

what exactly did you do when you left freeserve?

if you switched your account to a local call rate package then you should be able to dial in to freeserve and change the page to redirect to your current site.

if you deleted your account completely then you should contact freeserve and ask them why the website was not removed.

also you should contact all sites you can find that link to your old one (use both link to and contain the term on google link to seems unreliable) and tell them to change.

I have contacted freeserve(wanadoo).  Awaiting reply.

I did close the account completely 3 yrs ago.  I then had broadband via BT and now pipex.  My current site is hosted with pipex.

I will see if i can contact google etc.  Cheers guys!

I am going in circles.

Freeserve re-activated my account to allow me to delete the site.  BUT my site isn't listed there anymore???  But it still appears on the web.  I cleared my temporary files.

Im going mad!

Try holding down Ctrl and clicking on F5 (Refresh), that might do the trick.

had same trouble here, you just gotta wait til google picks up your new site on their next tour of the net, re-submit it to them and if the old site cant even be accessed anymore google will drop it, its probably just a cached file on google anyhow. Whats the link to the old site for one of us to check if we can see it(as it might be stored in your history)

SORTED.

My old log in name and password where recognised, but wouldnt give access.  The sites where clearly hosted still.

Talked to my bro - he said they would only allow me acces to the server if I connected to the internet via them.

So, I signed up for a pay as you go account, conneced on that - bloody slow!

Signed in, deleted them.....all done.

Result Grin
