Electrical Symbols
Feb 18th, 2005, 10:02am

I'll soon need to mark up a set of floor plans to show where we want power points in our new house. I assuming there is a standard set of symbols for this sort of thing but could only really find this one using Google.

http://www.elec-toolbox.com/usefulinfo/elecsym1.htm

Are these correct for the UK?

Thanks. Might be worth adding to the "Glossary and useful Info" thread if you do.

This looks like a better set. Based on BS3939...

Or, why not buy the latest (Brown) IEE On SIte Guide, which has the usual symbols on the back cover and all you'll ever need to know about what you can and can't do?

Yep ding, OSG is the best guide, probably better than some DIY electrical guides, problem is it's not as easy to understand, the DIY manuals are made really easy.

Would have scanned in the symbols, but some one nicked my OSG sooo  Roll Eyes

Btw that list above is ok, some are slightly different though, always seems to be some variation, and that list was made in 1985  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
