assignment question
Apr 8th, 2005, 5:36pm

Hi,
Normally I would not use the forum for my course work, so please excuse me.
a shower pump which is installed in the void beneath the bath, summarise the rerquirements of BS7671.
I looked in part 6 section 601, but I did not understand the requirement, I can see that it can be installed in zone 1 and zone 2, obviously the requirement should comply with these zones limitations, but for one reason or another I just can't put it together.

I think the answer they want is "can be installed under the bath if the bath panel is only removeable with the use of a tool or key".

This question needs re-writing really.  The new regs do not make it clear.

If the area under the bath has a lock/screwed access, it is outside the zones, and a pump would not need to be suitably IP rated for water ingress.  If it is not secured by a tool or key, it is zone 1, in which case the pump must be IPx4 rated.

What you mean, you're seats still warm from last time!  Grin

Leccs covered it all, basicaly Zone 0 only exsists if the bath pannel can't be removed without the use of a tool

this is really where the OSG has it's place, it clearly describes all these sorts of issues which regs don't make clear, you can then cross reference for making sure
