Amplifier cabinets
Aug 22nd, 2008, 5:42pm

I don’t know if anyone can help. I have been approached by an Anglican church down in Dell Boy country (Peckham) to design and make two cabinets to house their sound system. The first cabinet is to house up to four amplifies and the mixer deck, while the second cabinet is to house again up to four amplifies plus two computer monitors and two key boards. The electrics in each cabinet will consist of two banks of six 13amp switched sockets feed from a pair of 15 amp breakers. Plus all the other bits and bobs. That’s the back ground to my question. And know to my question I understand from the client the amplifies fit into a racking system and this racking system is a stand component size. Does anyone know anything about sound systems and their storage etc or does anyone know of or can recommend a forum where I can make nuisance of myself.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/19-inch_rack

Standard amps will fit a 19" rack, 19" is the width.  They use M6 cage nuts and bolts for fixing.

You can get plain cage sides to fix into custom cabinets.....google.
