Hot oven trips main circuit breaker
Dec 2nd, 2013, 2:41pm

We have a Neff oven, about 10 years old. Recently when it is on full heat it trips the main power fuse when opened.

This only occurs when it's above 200 C or so. Any ideas please?

Yes,
Something is breaking down at high temperature, most likely the thermostat or element, which would allow a fault current to leak to earth.

I'd get someone to check -

The cooker switch, the connection point where the supply cable connects to the oven, and all of the internal wiring inside the oven unit, or the cheaper option, especially after 10 years use, would be to just replace the  oven unit - but get the wiring to the oven checked at the same time.
