Laminate Underlay for Kitchen
May 5th, 2008, 11:01am

i'm buying Laminate flooring for the kitchen but was unsure about the type of underlay

I've got a few of the Green Fibre boards left over but i thought if that gets wet at all it would break up.So i may be just the 2mm foam roll would be best?

it's a new concrete floor so there should be know rising damp issues

Hi Nyck,

Foam gets my vote in a kitchen but if you think you are going to get the floor so wet it will soak through to the underlay, pehaps you should rethink laminate as a surface? Undecided

Laminate is never good in a kitchen IMO.

Expect to be looking to replace after a couple years.

I agree.

I've done laminate a few years back and really regret it.  Sad

Laminate is great if you are fitting it in house you are about to sell (it becomes somebody else's problem) or if you never plan on using a mop to clean it! It should be banned!!

I dont as a rule like laminate in a kitchen, However i fitted a product called elesgo super gloss. fitted it a couple of years ago in a kitchen dining room and it is still in great shape, this stuff doesnt even scratch when you score a key across the surface, a little more expensive than the usual tat but you get what you pay for

regards
